We two, who burned apart, now, wedded, claim
Each other in this desolating flame,
Which, fed by want of love, can never cease:
Would God, our hearts in ashes brought us peace.
A Different Ending
In that last moment, when we saw our souls
Spring from each other like the sundered poles,
The world went fuming from us, grace was great,
And in these loving fires we safely wait.
